What is an AVID student? An AVID student is typically someone who has the potential to succeedin college or career opportunities, but may not have access to thenecessary resources and support to achieve their goals. AVID studentsare often from underrepresented groups, such as low-income families,minority communities, or those for whom English is a second language.Some of the characteristics that may be used to identify AVID students at the middle school level include: Academic Drive and Potential, Good attendance, Motivation, Enthusiasm for learning, interest in college, and active involvement in extracurricular activities.

The Character Trait of the Month is Patience. During the month we are sharing examples of how you can increase your patience. We are also encouraging students to submit examples of what patience means to them and how practicing patience helps you be more successful. Submissions are entered into a chance to win a prize. We also have a Patience Turtle Hunt with teeny, tiny, turtles hidden around the school for students to find and bring to the office for a small treat.

To be eligible, applicants must: • Currently be in 7th grade and/or entering 8th grade in the fall of 2025. • Have earned all or mostly As in core academic subjects since beginning of 6th grade. • Currently attend middle school in the U.S. and plan to attend high school in the U.S. • Demonstrate unmet financial need with a family adjusted gross income of $95,000 or less. Spirit Week will be the 17th of March to the 21st of March. Monday: Gold/Yellow vs. Green Tuesday: Rhyme without Reason! You and a Friend dress as things that rhyme but don’t go together (like spoon & moon) Wednesday: Anything but a Backpack! Bring your supplies in anything (school appropriate) but a backpack. Thursday: March Madness/Sport day! Friday: Drip Day! Wear your nicest/coolest outfit.
Spring Conferences are this week. During Spring Conferences meetings are by request. Teachers have reached out to schedule conferences with those they feel they need to meet with. If you did not receive an emailed request, teachers did not feel they needed a conference, however, you are still welcome to schedule a conference if you would like. To schedule a conference with your student's teaching team, click on the Grade Level Link below and sign up for a time.
