
AVID is taking applications for next year! Current 6th and 7th graders who are interested in applying for AVID can pick up an application from Mr. Riehle or the front office.
***All incoming 6th graders will have one quarter of AVID in the 2025-2026 year and will then have an opportunity to apply.
8th graders who are interested in AVID who are NOT already in AVID can reach out to Mr. Riehle.

🕒 Time: Right after school until 4:45 PM
📍 Location: Meet in the gym
🚍 Activity buses will be available for transportation.
🔑 Important:
Athletes should come prepared in correct athletic attire (sneakers, comfortable clothes) for practice.
Sports physicals must be valid/updated in order to participate. Make sure yours is up-to-date!

Important Dates in April


The Character Trait of the Month is Patience. During the month we are sharing examples of how you can increase your patience. We are also encouraging students to submit examples of what patience means to them and how practicing patience helps you be more successful. Submissions are entered into a chance to win a prize.
We also have a Patience Turtle Hunt with teeny, tiny, turtles hidden around the school for students to find and bring to the office for a small treat.


ATTN: SSD 7TH GRADE HIGHLY CAPABLE STUDENTS!
The Cooke Young Scholars Program application is open! This five-year, pre-college scholarship for high-achieving 7th graders with financial need provides funding for academic and extracurricular activities, personalized educational advising, and the opportunity to join a community of motivated peers.
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Currently be in 7th grade and/or entering 8th grade in the fall of 2025.
• Have earned all or mostly As in core academic subjects since beginning of 6th grade.
• Currently attend middle school in the U.S. and plan to attend high school in the U.S.
• Demonstrate unmet financial need with a family adjusted gross income of $95,000 or less.

The 7th grade AVID class also visited Edmonds Community College. A great time was had by all!


Our students (and staff/adult volunteers!) are having an amazing time riding bikes in our Sultan Mountain Bike Club!


The 7th grade AVID class visited Lake Washington Technical College and toured the campus!


The 6th grade AVID class went on a field trip to Bellevue College last week and toured the campus!

Spring Conferences are this week. During Spring Conferences meetings are by request. Teachers have reached out to schedule conferences with those they feel they need to meet with. If you did not receive an emailed request, teachers did not feel they needed a conference, however, you are still welcome to schedule a conference if you would like.
