🏃♀️ Sultan Middle School Cross Country Kicks Off the Season! 🏃♂️
A message from our Cross-Country Coach:
This past Saturday, the Sultan Middle School Cross Country team competed in their very first meet of the season! The team joined the high school squad for a trip to South Whidbey High School, where they faced tough competition and showed incredible heart.
The girls raced first, with Evelyn Weber, Sahalee Williams, Lyla Nicewanner, and Karmaj Mireles proudly representing SMS. All four runners had strong performances and impressive times to start the season off right!
One standout moment came from 6th grader Evelyn Weber, who finished 10th overall with a time of 14:33 in the 3K race—earning a spot on the podium! Even more amazing? Evelyn was the only 6th grader in the entire race to make the top 10!
Sahalee Williams also had a fantastic race, finishing just outside the top 10 in 12th place.
Following the girls' race, the Sultan Middle School boys cross country team took to the course with determination and heart! Representing the Skyhawks were Jensen Neilson, Logan Holaday, Jayden Dillahunt, Caleb Martinell, and John Hanna—and these boys came ready to compete!
One standout performance came from Logan Holaday, who had an incredible race. Compared to his time at this same meet last year, Logan shaved off nearly four minutes—a huge accomplishment!
The entire team has been putting in the work over the past few weeks, and it clearly showed out on the course. Despite the rolling hills and challenging terrain, every one of these athletes pushed hard and finished strong.
💪 What a fantastic way to kick off the season—we're proud of all your effort and growth!
📣 Next up: Come support your Sultan Skyhawks at their next meet this Friday, September 26th at Osprey Park. Let’s bring the energy and cheer them on to another great race!
